Information share Child Support payments
MSD has an agreement with Inland Revenue to share information about most types of Child Support.
Inland Revenue tells MSD when they pay this Child Support to receiving carer's and MSD matches this information to clients.
MSD uses the information from Inland Revenue to automatically charge these Child Support payments as income in most situations. These are called information share Child Support payments.
An information share Child Support payment is money that:
- a person gets in their bank account and
- is a formula assessment or voluntary agreement of Child Support collected and paid via Inland Revenue and
- relates to a Child Support liability period on or after 1 July 2023 and
- is notified to MSD through the information share with Inland Revenue
