Clients waiting for compensation
A client may be able to get a specified benefit and/or Extra help while they are waiting for a decision on their ACC claim.
The specified benefit is granted on the condition that the specified benefit paid will be refunded out of the weekly compensation subsequently paid for the same period.
Where a client is receiving a specified benefit but not receiving Extra help, you should advise the client of the Extra help that is available to them.
In some situations a client may already be receiving a specified benefit at the time they make their ACC claim. The client should be advised that their benefit will be reassessed and the specified benefit will be reduced or stopped, in the event they receive weekly compensation that is paid for the same period as the specified benefit.
