Death of a client
When a client receiving any assistance dies, the Community Services Card must be cancelled before date of death details can be added to the client’s record.
Children of a deceased client
Children may access health services through the Community Services Card of the surviving spouse or partner.
If the deceased has no surviving spouse or partner, the person who is appointed the dependent child's carer may apply for a card and include the child in their application.
Note if a client is granted Unsupported Child's Benefit or Orphans Benefit for a child, the child is issued a card in their own right. The child is not included in their carer's application for a Community Services Card, they are not considered a dependent child for the Community Services Card.
