Orphans Benefit and Unsupported Childs Benefit products

The following additional assistance is available to caregivers who meet specific qualifications, and are getting Orphans Benefit or Unsupported Childs Benefit:

• Clothing Allowance for Orphans and Unsupported children
  The Clothing Allowance for Orphans and Unsupported children provides weekly financial assistance to caregivers, to help meet the costs of clothing, a travel bag, and school uniforms for the child, or children, in the caregiver’s care. These non-taxable payments are made automatically.

• Establishment Grant
  The Establishment Grant is a one-off, non-recoverable payment to caregivers who meet the qualifications for Orphans Benefit or Unsupported Childs Benefit. The non-taxable payment helps towards the upfront cost of items such as bed or bedding. It is paid automatically when Orphans Benefit or Unsupported Childs Benefit is approved.

• Extraordinary Care Fund
  The Extraordinary Care Fund provides non-recoverable financial assistance to caregivers who are caring for a child who is experiencing difficulties that have a sufficient impact on their development or a child who is showing promise. Clients must apply for this non-taxable assistance.

• Holiday Allowance and Birthday Allowance
  Holiday Allowance and Birthday Allowance are annual payments to help with the costs of preparing a celebration, purchasing gifts, or planning an event or experience for the child, or children, in the caregiver's care.
  The non-taxable payment is generally made automatically.

• School and Year Start-up Payment
  The School and Year Start-up Payment provides non-recoverable financial assistance to assist with school related costs or other costs relating to the care of the child at the start of each year. Clients must apply for this non-taxable assistance.
