Reimbursement of medical fees
Clients who have applied for a Community Services Card, High Use Health Card or Pharmaceutical (Prescription) Subsidy Card, can be reimbursed for the extra costs paid for medical practitioner or nurse practitioner consultations and prescriptions before getting their card.
When a Community Services Card is granted it is backdated either 28 days or 3 months. The backdating period is based on whether the client has dependent children.
Because the grant of a Community Services Card is backdated, the client was eligible for a subsidy during that period but they did not have a physical card.
If they made full payment for general practice visits during their entitlement period, the extra charge can be reimbursed.
We do not reimburse claims from clients who have not paid their general practitioner consultation fee or prescription charges.
Note only medical practitioner and nurse practitioner consultation fees and some prescription charges may be reimbursed. All other expenses are not eligible for reimbursement.
