Obligations

A client must return their SuperGold Card to the Ministry if they are asked in writing.

If a client fails to meet their obligations to the Ministry of Social Development, the client can be fined up to $1000 for misuse of the card.

The Ministry must cancel a SuperGold Card if requested by the client.

If a grandparented non-qualified New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension partner is no longer included in the partner's payments, they must return their SuperGold card. A written request must be made by the Ministry for the card to be returned.

A grandparented non-qualified partner is any person who was included in a New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension as a non-qualified partner before 9 November 2020 and is still included after 9 November 2020.
