COVID-19 Wage Subsidy Scheme (March 2021) : Contents

Introduction

The COVID-19 Wage Subsidy Scheme (March 2021) was introduced from 4 March 2021, to support businesses impacted by the current escalation in Alert Levels, to help the businesses stay connected to their workers.

This scheme was the March 2021 addition to previous wage subsidies implemented in response to COVID-19.

Businesses who got previous COVID-19 Wage Subsidy, or Leave Support Scheme payments, or Short-Term Absence Payment could apply for the same workers again, if they met the qualifications, but only once the period for any previous payment had ended.

Applications

Businesses and self-employed people must apply online for the COVID-19 Wage Subsidy Scheme (March 2021).

Applications could be made from 4 March 2021, with payments commencing from 8 March 2021. Payments were made as a lump sum to the business for each named worker (including self-employed people) and covered a 2-week period from either 8 March 2021 or the date of application (whichever is the later date).

Applications for the current scheme closed at 11.59pm on 21 March 2021.
