Transfer between benefits
When a client transfers between benefits any debt will need to be transferred to the new benefit record.
Transfer using STRFB screen
When you transfer the client between benefits using the STRFB screen any debt automatically transfers to the new benefit record. You will need to manually recommence deductions for repayment.
If you print the SOFSI screen before cancelling the previous benefit you have all the information needed to re-load the offsets.
Cancel previous benefit
When you transfer a client between benefits by cancelling the previous benefit and granting another, any debt on the previous benefit will automatically transfer to the new service, generally within 5 minutes of the new grant being authenticated.
You will be able to offset the debt from the arrears, when a benefit is cancelled and a new grant has occurred on the same day.
You must use the most relevant code to the client's circumstances.
Debt created by transfer action
Transferring a client between benefits from a date in the past creates a debt of the previous benefit and arrears of the new benefit.
Remember, these arrears will need to be put on hold by mid-day so any debt can be recovered from the arrears.
If this is not done, the arrears will get paid into the client's bank account.
There is no need to consult with the client in this situation.
Partner inclusion
When including a partner into a primary client's service and the partner has a debt in TRACE, or the partners service has been cancelled, and the inclusion action has occurred on the same day.
Any debt will automatically transfer to the partner's new service within 5 minutes of the spouse inclusion occurring in SWIFTT.
