Warrant to arrest does not apply

The warrant to arrest policy does not apply to:

• a person aged 16 years of age or under
• a caregiver receiving only Unsupported Childs Benefit or Orphans Benefit and no other main benefit
• a person not on a main benefit who is receiving non-beneficiary assistance (except for when they have met the criteria for being assessed by the Police Commissioner as a risk to public safety)
• people living overseas receiving New Zealand benefits under reciprocal agreements and other specified portable payments
• people who apply from overseas for a New Zealand benefit under a reciprocal agreement
• a person who is receiving the hospital rate of benefit
• a person who is receiving Residential Care Subsidy or Residential Support Subsidy

Note people who are overseas and are not receiving New Zealand benefits under reciprocal agreements or other portable payments are subject to this policy.
