Bedding
If a client cannot receive a Special Needs Grant for bedding, and they meet all advance qualifications, they may be able to receive an Advance Payment of Benefit.
The need for bedding must be immediate and essential.
Quotes are to be produced for new or second-hand dealers or retailers. Payment should not be approved for purchases of bedding through private sales.
If the client has been granted a Special Needs Grant for bedding, an Advance Payment of Benefit can be granted to 'top up' the payment if the client does not have exceptional circumstances to increase the maximum Special Needs Grant payable.
As a guideline, an Advance Payment of Benefit for bedding should not be more than $200.
