Child restraints for motor vehicles, and safety helmets

If a client meets all qualifications, Advance Payments of Benefit can be made to:

• purchase a new approved child restraint for a motor vehicle, for each child under 7 years of age who is a dependent child of the client
• hire an approved child restraint for a motor vehicle from reputable agencies, for each child under 7 years of age who is a dependent child of the client or
• purchase a new cycle safety helmet for each school aged dependent child of the client

Where the motor vehicle needs an attachment to fit the child restraint, this cost can be included in the purchase.

As a guideline, an Advance Payment of Benefit for child restraints or safety helmets should not be more than $200 for each dependent child.
