Child Disability Allowance : Contents
Residential hostels
If a child is in a home or hostel, Child Disability Allowance can only be paid where:
- the home or hostel is run by a voluntary organisation
- the caregiver is required to contribute to the cost of maintaining the child and
- the child is cared for by the caregiver during school holidays or weekends
If a child is in a hostel, check with the hostel at regular intervals to ensure that:
- the child still returns home for some weekends or school holidays
- the parents or guardians are taking an interest in the child and
- board is being paid
