Review at 26 weeks

Community Costs is reviewed when the client:

  • has completed a period (or total period) of 26 weeks residence in a treatment programme within a 52 week period and
  • it has been clinically determined that the client needs and would benefit from further treatment in the programme

The client will need to:

  • complete a Community Costs Payment application form
  • ensure that the Service Provider states on the application form that it has been clinically determined that they need, and would benefit from, further treatment
  • provide verification of any increases in existing costs or advise of any reductions in costs

Approval

Only Service Managers can approve payment of Community Costs for any period more than 26 weeks up to the maximum period of 39 weeks within a 52 week period.

Client in care for more than 39 weeks

Where it has been clinically determined that a client needs further treatment beyond the initial 26 weeks and that the further treatment period would exceed the maximum payment period allowed of 39 weeks, you will need to advise them that there is no authority to extend payment beyond the 39 weeks.

If the client intends to stay in the programme beyond the 39 weeks maximum, you will need to advise them that they should start to make other arrangements for their costs in the community before the 39 weeks ends as these costs will not be met by Community Costs after this time.

When the client is ready to reintegrate into the community on completion of their treatment programme, they may be able to receive other assistance such as:
