Client needs to pay security deposit debt
When a security deposit becomes recoverable from the client (i.e. some or all of it is paid to the supplier or provider), the MSD existing debt recovery process applies.
The security deposit amount paid to the supplier or provider is recoverable from the client from the date MSD pays it to the supplier or provider.
Client is paying security deposit debt and emergency housing contribution
If the client is still getting an Emergency Housing Grant and a contribution applies to that grant, or is paying a contribution towards their current stay in transitional or contracted emergency housing, the Security Deposit Grant will be recovered from the client at a reasonable rate based on what the client can afford.
If the client is paying both a contribution and making debt repayments for emergency housing, MSD needs to consider whether the client can still afford to pay an amount towards the recoverable Security Deposit Grant at the same time.
If the client cannot afford to pay all these amounts at the same time, MSD may temporarily defer recovery of the Security Deposit Grant, until the client can afford to start repaying it. MSD cannot temporarily defer recovery of any debt relating to an unpaid emergency housing contribution.
