Review of Decision
If a client has received formal notification of a decision made under the Emergency Housing Grantds Programme that they disagree with, they can apply for a Review of Decision.
Decisions that may be reviewed under Emergency Housing Grants
- declining to pay an Emergency Housing Grant because the client does not meet the qualifications for emergency housing
- determining the client has failed to meet their emergency housing responsibilities without good and sufficient reason (e.g. where a warning or 13-week non-entitlement period has been issued)
- the amount of emergency housing contribution the client has to pay
- declining to pay an Emergency Housing Grant after deciding a client or their dependent child does not have limited circumstances
- declining to pay a subsequent Emergency Housing Grant (and resuming a 13-week non-entitlement period) after deciding the client or their dependent child no longer has limited circumstances
Decisions that may be reviewed under Security Deposit Grants
- declining to grant a Security Deposit Grant because the client does not meet the qualifications
- declining to pay out some or all of a security deposit amount
- the amount of security deposit paid out to an emergency housing supplier or to a transitional housing or contracted emergency housing provider
- the recovery rate for the client to repay a security deposit amount that has been paid out to an emergency housing supplier, or to a transitional housing or contracted emergency housing provider
A client can appeal to the Social Security Appeal Authority when they do not agree with a decision which was upheld by the Benefits Review Committee under an application for Review of Decision.
