Child leaves care
Family tax credit payment is excluded from the main benefit at the beginning of the next pay period. This includes if the child left the principal caregiver's care suddenly.
The primary client's main benefit rate, obligations and any extra help may need to be reviewed after the child leaves their care.
Care and protection concerns
If MSD believes any child has been, or is likely to be harmed (physically, emotionally or sexually), ill-treated, abused, neglected, deprived or MSD has concerns about the wellbeing of the child, the case must be referred to Oranga Tamariki.
