Overpayments of family tax credit

Debts are not established for family tax credit or Best Start tax credit payments which may have been paid incorrectly with a main benefit eg main benefit payments obtained fraudulently.

When a main benefit, family tax credits and Best Start tax credit are cancelled, the Ministry of Social Development advises Inland Revenue through the information exchange.
