To calculate the Funeral Grant payable, complete the following steps:

Step 1 - calculate the total assessable assets

Step 2 - calculate balance of reasonable funeral expenses

Note Funeral Grant is not payable if the reasonable funeral expenses are less than the total assessable assets.

Equals balance of reasonable funeral expenses	$ _____

Step 3 - calculate Funeral Grant payable

Compare the balance of reasonable funeral expenses to the maximum Funeral Grant. The Funeral Grant payable is the lesser amount.
