Introduction
Home Help is a non-taxable payment that provides financial assistance to clients who require temporary part-time home help to complete tasks normally performed in the home such as laundry, housework and food preparation.
This could be because of a multiple birth, a domestic emergency or because the client requires domestic support.
Clients (or any partner) applying for Home Help Domestic Support or Domestic Emergency must have a current Community Services Card and meet an asset test.
If a client (or any partner) does not have a current Community Services Card they need to apply and be granted a Community Services Card before you process their application for Home Help.
A client does not have to be getting a benefit to get Home Help assistance.
Home Help is not paid for needs relating to age, ill health and infirmity. Clients in these categories may be able to get Home Support from Manatū Hauora, Ministry of Health NZ.
