Clients with existing debt

When deciding whether to approve a Bond Grant, MSD may consider the existing debt of the client and their partner (if any). Existing debt includes both MSD debt and non-MSD debt.

A client's existing debt repayments may impact their ability to repay a Bond Grant.

When a client has existing MSD debt, MSD may consider whether it is appropriate to reduce those repayments to allow for the repayment of the Bond Grant.

When a client is getting all the financial assistance they qualify for, but are not likely to be able to repay an amount paid under a Bond Grant, the grant may be declined.
