Bond Grant : Contents
Paying someone other than the landlord
Generally, a Bond Grant should only be paid directly to the prospective landlord or property manager.
However, in some situations, MSD may pay a Bond Grant to the client's payment card or directly to the client.
The Bond Grant:
- can be paid to the client's payment card when the landlord or property manager indicates this is their preferred payment method
- can only be paid directly to the client (e.g. bank account) when the landlord or property manager is not in MSD's system and the client needs an immediate grant paid to get or keep the tenancy
When the Bond Grant is paid, advise the client:
- the landlord is legally required to send the bond to Tenancy Services
- Tenancy Services must send the client notice they got the bond and
- if the client does not get a notice they should check with the landlord and Tenancy Services
Note a Bond Grant cannot be paid directly to Tenancy Services.
