Transition to Alternative Housing Grant : Contents

Introduction

A Transition to Alternative Housing Grant is a one off, non-recoverable payment to encourage social housing tenants, who are ready and able to rent in the private housing market, to move out of social housing and into alternative housing.

A Transition to Alternative Housing Grant is a conditional grant, which means it cannot be paid until all of the conditions of the grant have been met.

The Transition to Alternative Housing Grant is an incentive payment. It is not intended to meet the costs of moving out of social housing or into alternative housing, e.g. relocation costs or bond.

Clients may qualify for other financial assistance for these costs, such as a Moving Costs Grant, Bond Grant, or Rent in Advance Grant.

Residential Tenancies Act 1986

A Transition to Alternative Housing Grant is only available to clients who are entering accommodation agreements that the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 applies to.
