Sector Services process
Sector Services is a business unit of the Ministry of Health contracted to manage health claims. One of the services Sector Services provides is for wigs and hairpieces.
To be assisted with a Special Needs Grant for a wig or hairpiece all other assistance from a health agency must be accessed. Only when this assistance is not available can consideration be given to pay a Special Needs Grant.
Generally, contact with Sector Services will be made during the interview with the client. The client should first make contact with Sector Services, giving Sector Services permission to supply details of their entitlement for wigs and hairpieces to Work and Income.
Where contact with Sector Services cannot be made during the interview, a form must be completed giving Work and Income permission to contact Sector Services to discuss the client's wig and hairpiece entitlements. The form is then facsimiled to Sector Services.
Work and Income can contact Sector Services the following day requesting the client's entitlement to wigs and hairpieces.
Note Sector Services do not send clients any details of their entitlement. This is all completed by telephone - Sector Services contact number is: 0800 458 448
