Abated Working for Families Tax Credits
Non-beneficiary clients and clients getting a New Zealand Superannuation or Veterans Pension may have their Working for Families Tax Credits abated by Inland Revenue if they earn income in excess of the income threshold.
You would only include the actual or estimated amount of Working for Families Tax Credits that is payable at the time the client applies for Temporary Additional Support. Do not include any payments of Working for Families Tax Credits paid in the past.
Example
If a client has received the full Working for Families Tax Credits entitlement for the tax year (eg in the first 6 months of that year) before applying for Temporary Additional Support, then this cannot be charged as income when assessing Temporary Additional Support. The amount of Working for Families Tax Credits you include is the actual or estimated amount payable at the time they apply for Temporary Additional Support.
