Change in income
MSD will need to review Temporary Additional Support to ensure that the client still meets the qualifications and is receiving the correct rate of payment whenever there is a change in the client's income.
Income must be charged against Temporary Additional Support for the week(s) in which the income is earned or represents.
If income does not represent a specific period or if MSD cannot determine the actual period it represents, MSD must determine the most appropriate period to charge the income. This may be the week it is received, provided or supplied.
Variable income
Where a client has variable income, (for example wages) the income is charged for the week in which the income was earned.
If the client is unsure of the exact amount of income that they will earn, they should provide an estimate of their income. This will help to reduce any debt being established for the client.
If a client's actual income differs from the estimate given they must inform Work and Income of the correct amount and their rate of benefit should be reviewed.
The correct amount of income should still be charged for the week in which the income was earned.
