Shared care - standard costs

When family tax credit is paid for any shared custody arrangements of any child, the family tax credit included in the standard costs is 70% of the total amount of family tax credit payable in respect of that child regardless of whether the caregiver gets a full or partial payment of family tax credit.

For example, if family tax credit is payable for a child who is in the care of a person for 3/7 days, then the full unabated family tax credit for 7 days is used to calculate standard costs even if the person is only caring for the child 3 days of the period.
