Community Work Experience
Community Work Experience is a non-financial sanction that can be imposed on a partner of an Emergency Benefit client, instead of a Grade 1 financial sanction. It is intended to help clients build work-related skills and confidence, and also build connections in their community.
A partner will work with a community or voluntary organisation, for at least 5 hours a week, for 4 weeks.
A partner will have a 2-week search period before their Community Work Experience begins to find a suitable position and organisation.
MSD will need to confirm whether the organisation and position are suitable before the partner can begin.
Once a partner completes their Community Work Experience, they are considered to have recomplied with their obligation failure and do not need to complete any other recompliance activities.
