Emergency Benefit : Contents
Payments to the non-sanctioned client
When a client has their portion of the benefit sanctioned, the non-sanctioned client will continue to get:
- their portion of the benefit and
- for a grade 2 or 3 sanction, 50% of the supplementary assistance the couple was entitled to (the couple's supplementary assistance is not affected by a grade 1 sanction) and the full couple rate of Winter Energy Payment
MSD should check if the non-sanctioned client has had any changes in their circumstances or their family's situation. The non-sanctioned client should be advised about applying for a benefit in their own right (in this situation the benefit would only be paid at the half-married rate).
