Criteria for Money Management
Clients must meet certain criteria in order for Money Management to be imposed.
A client can only have Money Management imposed if:
- they have no other current obligation failures (i.e. this is their first obligation failure), and
- they meet with MSD within the 5 working day notice period, and
- the obligation failure decision is not disputed and overturned, and
- Money Management would be the most appropriate sanction to impose based on their circumstances, and
- they are in active case management or they have dependent children.
Client failed a social obligation
Money Management may be imposed on clients who have failed a social obligation if they meet the above criteria.
Depending on the activity a client fails, they may be able to recomply within 5 working days of the failure instead of imposing Money Management.
Client failed more than one obligation at the same time
A client may fail more than one obligation on the same day and have multiple failures they need to recomply with.
A client may have Money Management imposed instead of receiving a financial sanction for these failures. Clients will need to complete a recompliance activity for each of their failures before Money Management ends in order to recomply with their obligations.
