Income less than a disqualifying rate

Where an Emergency Maintenance Allowance client starts work during the initial stand-down period, you do not re-assess the client's commencement date when:

  • their level of income is less than a disqualifying rate and
  • employment continues beyond the original commencement date

In this situation you charge the clients earnings (income) against their benefit from the original commencement date.

When the level of income the client receives is high enough (when charged against the benefit) to reduce the benefit to a nil rate of payment.
