Inform client of conditions of grant
You must ensure that the client is clear about the conditions of grant attached to their benefit and the consequences of failing to meet those conditions.
Clients applying for Emergency Maintenance Allowance must be given a copy of their conditions of grant from their application form.
The conditions of grant apply on any day of the week provided it is suitable for the client's circumstances.
You should consider the client's individual circumstances to ensure that they can realistically meet their conditions of grant such as:
- access to childcare and other family commitments
- religious observances on a specific day
- number of hours and time of day
- religious commitments or jobs that offend strongly held views
- employment with excessive hours
- types of employment and the skills and experience required
- location of employment
- wages
- suitability of the job
