SWIFTT process to pay a partner
When you decide to continue payment of Jobseeker Support to the partner of a client who has been imprisoned, you will need to determine the most appropriate SWIFTT process to enable payment to be made to the partner.
The process for payment will depend on whether the:
- period in prison is in the past
- client is due to be released from prison shortly
- client is likely to be in prison for more than four weeks and
- rate of payment for the partner
Note that there is discretion to pay the full married, civil union or de facto rate of benefit.
Period in prison has passed or release is imminent
Generally you should use the SBDR screen in SWIFTT to:
- suspend the client's portion of the Jobseeker Support for the period in prison
and
- pay the appropriate rate of Jobseeker Support to the partner
Period in prison more than 4 weeks
When the Jobseeker Support is to continue, and be paid to the partner you will need to contact Helpline for advice regarding the SWIFTT process to use.
