Comprehensive Work Assessment for 52 week reapplication process

The Comprehensive Work Assessment is a compulsory part of the 52 week reapplication process. It is designed to support in-depth conversations with clients to help them prepare for and find suitable employment.

The 52 week reapplication process and Comprehensive Work Assessment apply to the following clients only:

  • clients who have an 'in-flight' 52 week reapplication on 1 July 2025.

Clients and partners with work obligations must participate in and complete the Comprehensive Work Assessment. Clients who have a deferral or exemption from work obligations must still participate in and complete the Comprehensive Work Assessment.

Note partners with no work obligations do not need to complete the Comprehensive Work Assessment.

Client does not complete Comprehensive Work Assessment

If a client does not complete the Comprehensive Work Assessment the reapplication cannot be processed.

Partner does not complete Comprehensive Work Assessment

A partner with work obligations should be encouraged to complete the Comprehensive Work Assessment before the expiry date.

Partners with work obligations

If a partner with work obligations has not completed the Comprehensive Work Assessment, MSD will book an appointment with them to complete it. If they do not attend, an obligations failure will be initiated for the partner. To recomply the partner must participate in and complete the Comprehensive Work Assessment.

Partners without work obligations

Partners who do not have work obligations do not need to complete the Comprehensive Work Assessment. The 52 week reapplication process can be completed, provided that the client has completed the Comprehensive Work Assessment.
