Reciprocal Agreements

New Zealand has Reciprocal Agreements with some countries. However, only the agreement with the United Kingdom includes Jobseeker Support.

Under that agreement, residence and or periods of insurance contributions in the United Kingdom can be regarded as residence in New Zealand.

Australian clients

Prior to 1 February 2000, the Australian Reciprocal Agreement allowed Australian residents or holders of an Australian passport to Jobseeker Support after living in New Zealand for 6 months.

From 1 February 2000, Australian residents or holders of an Australian passport have to meet the 2 year continuous residence requirement to get Jobseeker Support.
