Client donates a kidney or liver tissue
When a client is donating a kidney or liver tissue, they can keep getting their Sole Parent Support. Exempt the client from any work obligations during the recovery period.
Grant the exemption 'Would qualify for Jobseeker Support – health condition, injury or disability'.
Add information from the medical certificate in the SINCC screen in SWIFTT.
The exemption starts from the date of their operation and can continue while the client:
- is recovering from their operation and
- they cannot meet their part-time work obligations
This exemption must not be more than 12 weeks.
Do not apply any obligation failures:
- for the maximum period of 12 weeks or
- until the client has recovered from the operation
whichever is earlier.
Client has an obligation failure
If the client currently has an obligation failure, donating a kidney or liver tissue is a 'good and sufficient reason'. The part-time obligations failure must be overturned.
This will remove the failure from the client’s 12 month obligation failure count and there is no sanction.
Childcare assistance
Clients may be eligible for Childcare Assistance payments while they are they are recovering.
