In full-time study at level four or above
This exemption may apply to clients on Sole Parent Support with work obligations.
A client can be exempt from meeting some of their work obligations if they are engaged in full-time study at level 4 or above. This is a partial exemption.
There are no restrictions on the type of course that a Sole Parent Support client can undertake other than that the course is level 4 or above.
You can check whether study is at level 4 or above on the NZQA qualifications framework. Level 4 courses are courses post-secondary school.
For more information refer to the NZQA website.
You can still require a client to meet with you during the time they are studying. This will allow you to monitor their progress and, plan with them to look for work when their course finished.
Note you should remove the exemption if the client fails their course.
Proof
The client has to provide evidence of their study such as:
- enrolment forms
- academic transcript
Duration
