Limited employment locations
These guidelines explain how the limited employment locations policy affects Sole Parent Support clients who have work obligations.
Living in a limited employment location
A client living is a limited employment location must continue to meet their work obligations, this includes being available for, and taking reasonable steps to obtain, suitable employment of at least 15 hours per week. They will not be expected to relocate.
Note this does not include clients who move from one limited employment location to another. In this instance, see:
Moving to a limited employment location
If a client is moving to a limited employment location they must be able to show that they can continue to meet their work obligations.
These clients have an obligation to be available for, and taking reasonable steps to obtain suitable employment of at least 15 hours per week.
To meet this obligation, a client who moves to a limited employment location must have access to reliable transport and be willing and realistically able to commute to a nearby town or centre where there is employment available.
