Orphans Benefit or Unsupported Childs Benefit under 3 years
This exemption may apply to clients with work obligations.
In some cases a client may be caring for a child under 3 years old for whom they are receiving Orphans Benefit or Unsupported Childs Benefit.
Clients granted this exemption will be subject to work preparation obligations.
Duration
This exemption can be granted in SWIFTT for 12 months initially or to when the child turns 3 years of age - whichever is earlier.
The exemption can be renewed after 12 months provided the child is still under 3 years old and the parent still qualifies for benefit.
SWIFTT process
Clients who receive Unsupported Childs Benefit or Orphans Benefit for a child under 3 years old are not automatically exempt in SWIFTT. You need to add an exemption on the main benefit record via SWTDA in SWIFTT.
