NCEA level 2 or equivalent or higher qualification
In order to meet the obligation to be in full-time education, training, or work-based learning the young partner must be working towards NCEA level 2 or an equivalent or higher qualification.
An equivalent qualification to NCEA level 2 would be any qualification at level 2 on the New Zealand Qualification Framework.
Meeting education obligations
A young partner is meeting their education obligations if they are in (or available for) full-time education, training or work-based learning, working towards a qualification registered at:
- level 2 on the New Zealand Qualification Framework (which includes NCEA Level 2)
- level 3 or higher on the New Zealand Qualification Framework (NZQF)
Note young people undertaking courses at level 1 on the New Zealand Qualification Framework are considered to be meeting their obligations as long as it is a qualification which will build towards a level 2 NZQF qualification.
