Supported Living Payment : Contents

Refugees and protected persons

In general a refugee or protected person cannot receive Supported Living Payment unless they have been granted permanent residence.

If a refugee or a protected person has permanent residence, assess them for Supported Living Payment in the usual manner. Refugees and protected persons with permanent residence are exempt from meeting the two years continuous residence criteria.

Note when a client leaves the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre no stand-down applies to the grant of the benefit.

Clients without permanent residence

If a client is a refugee or a protected person and has not been granted permanent residence, an Emergency Benefit may be considered.
