Supported Living Payment : Contents

Use all information available

One form of medical or disability information may not be enough for MSD to decide the client’s eligibility to Supported Living Payment. If the client has additional information, they should bring this to their appointment.

MSD should use all available information about the client including:

  • the existing assessment(s)
  • information contained in MSD records (e.g. information on Disability Allowance, Child Disability Allowance)
  • previous MSD medical certificates

If the information confirms the client meets the criteria for Supported Living Payment, MSD can consider granting Supported Living Payment.

If it is unclear from the information a client provides that they meet the medical criteria for Supported Living Payment, seek advice from the Regional Health Advisor or Regional Disability Advisor [no link find out why] .

Example

A client provides an assessment from a specialist that provides a diagnosis and another suitable assessment e.g. NASC or special education report that focuses more on the impact of the person's illness or impairment.

MSD should use the information in both assessments to decide the client's eligibility to Supported Living Payment.
