Infirmity - more than 52%

If a veteran is getting a disablement pension, independence allowance or a lump sum payment for an impairment of 52% or greater, or is getting a War Disablement Pension under the War Pensions Act 1954 of 70% or more:

• their spouse or partner can also get Veteran's Pension if they qualify for New Zealand Superannuation
• their spouse or partner is eligible to get a Veteran's Pension after the veteran dies
• the surviving spouse or partner or dependent children may qualify for a lump sum payment when the veteran dies
• the veteran and their partner are entitled to Community Services Cards automatically
