Service
A veteran meets the service qualification for Veteran's Pension if they have qualifying operational service as defined in section 8 of the Veterans' Support Act 2014.
Confirmation of qualifying operational service is always made by Veterans' Affairs.
A decision to decline entitlement to a Veteran's Pension on the basis that the service is not qualifying operational service cannot be reviewed by a Benefits Review Committee or the Social Security Appeal Authority.
Any request for a review of decision must be made to Veterans' Affairs New Zealand.
