Veterans under age 65

From 7 December 2014 all clients under the age of 65 who receive a current Veteran's Pension under the War Pensions Act 1954 can elect to continue to get Veteran's Pension under the Veteran's Support Act 2014, instead of Weekly Income Compensation from Veterans Affairs.

No new Veteran's Pension applications from veterans under age 65 can be made on the grounds of infirmity not related to service from 7 December 2014.

A veteran who received Weekly Income Compensation cannot elect to receive Veteran's Pension.

Eligible veterans can apply for a Veteran's Pension 2 to 3 weeks before they turn 65 so their payments commence from the date they turn 65.
