This note is not part of the direction, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This direction, which comes into effect on 2 November 2026, sets out the relevant evidence required for MSD to be satisfied of a parental support gap under section 23G(1) of the Social Security Act 2018 (the Act). The parental support gap is part of the parental income requirement which must be met for a specified young person to be entitled to a relevant benefit under sections 20(ca) and 63(2A) of the Act.
