Sole Parent High Income

17.2.1

MSD may make a recoverable Grant to a sole parent who-

(a)

would otherwise qualify for a benefit but is not entitled to receive that benefit because-

(i)

the benefit is subject to a Stand Down; or

(ii)

after a date of first contact that applies to him or her and before a decision on his or her application for a benefit is made, he or she has yet to comply with a requirement under regulation 110 or 166 of the Social Security Regulations 2018 and-

(A)

his or her application for a benefit has not lapsed; and

(B)

regulation 111(6) of the Social Security Regulations 2018 does not apply to him or her; and

(b)

has no cash assets and cannot obtain credit facilities; and

(c)

has taken all reasonable steps to reduce his or her fixed commitments.
