Carer or support person as additional occupant or signatory
The carer or support person can be considered either an additional occupant or a signatory.
Carer or support person is an additional occupant
The carer or support person can be considered an additional occupant when:
- they reside permanently with the client and
- they have a specific and on-going need to be part of the household and
- the carer or support person does not want to be a signatory on the tenancy agreement or
- the client does not want the carer or support person included on the tenancy
The carer or support person's income is not considered when assessing the Income Related Rent. However they are an additional occupant and if they are making contributions to applicable persons to live in the house then 62% of those contributions are included in the calculation of Income Related Rent for the household.
Carer or support person is a signatory
If the carer or support person is a signatory on the tenancy agreement, then they are considered an applicable person and their income is included for Income Related Rent purposes.
