Property type required for identifying lower quartile rent
The lower quartile private rent can be foundĀ at Tenancy Services. The type of property required will depend on the household type and their property requirements. The number of bedrooms required is determined by the overcrowding calculation under the suitability criteria. When deciding the most appropriate lower quartile rent, the following property types should be used.
Household type and property required | Property type needed |
Households with dependent children | house |
Elderly (aged over 65 years) | house |
Households with members who have a disability | house |
All other clients | flat (if no flat available, use apartment) |
Note an apartment is considered to be a residential dwelling, generally in a building greater than three stories high in a commercial residential area.
