For the purposes of shared housing, the Income Related Rent Subsidy is then paid for the difference between the rate of Income Related Rent calculated for the tenant and the market rent rate or agreed rent rate for the bedroom.

Shared housing is where a client is living in a bedroom in a social housing provider property. Each bedroom will have its own bathroom, but the client may be required to share kitchen, lounge and other facilities with the other tenants.

A shared property can only have five or less tenants living at the property at any one time.

Tenants other than social housing clients can live in the property.
