Change in circumstances during transition period
When a tenant no longer qualifies for social housing, they are given a 3 month transition period to find alternative housing.
If they have a change in circumstances during the transition period, MSD need to check if they qualify for social housing again.
The tenant now qualifies for social housing
If a tenant now qualifies for social housing based on their change in circumstances, they can stay in the property they currently live in.
However, the change in circumstances may mean a change to the type of property the tenant needs.
They will remain in the property and MSD will notify their housing provider of any change in their housing needs.
The housing provider will use the information to decide whether to place them in a more suitable, available property (treated as a housing provider-initiated transfer).
The tenant still does not qualify for social housing
If a tenant doesn't qualify for social housing based on their change in circumstances, they can stay in the property until the end of the transition period.
